...no rolling here, just the drop in the ceiling. Darcy framed a drop in the ceiling over where the island is going to go. It comes down about a foot, then goes over 6 inches or so and back up 6 inches. 
It's kinda hard to tell from the picture, but it should look good once it's all finished. We're going to have crown moulding around the top and painted wooden slats in the inside part where the 3 pendant lights will hang down from. Stay tuned to see how it looks! 
The fireplace is all done framing, too. In this picture it kinda just looks like a big black space so...
...here it's over-exposed so you can see how the fireplace acutally looks.
